FAMILY : Zingiberaceae
   
COMMON NAME : Ginger
   
LOCAL NAME : Halia (M), Lia (Ib.), Keong, Jiang (C)
     
PREPARATION : Fresh ginger is sliced, finely chopped or grated and used boiled or fried in meat dishes. Dried ginger and ginger powder are also use in cooking.
   
TRADITIONAL USES : It is effective as a digestive aid and relieve cold, coughs, fevers and menstrual cramps. Drink as tonic after giving birth.
