SCIENTIFIC : Centella asiatica (L.) Urban
     
FAMILY : Apiaceae
     
COMMON NAME : Asiatic Pennywort
     
LOCAL NAME : Pegaga (M); Udu bulan (Kel); Daun Cina (Ib)
     
PREPARATION : Pegaga is commonly taken as a vegetable (ulan) among Malays and as a cooking drink by the Chinese and as a brain tonic by the Indians. Leaves are consumed either raw, in ulam or cooked.
     
TRADITIONAL USES : This herb is used to treat hypertension, sore throat, skin disease, rheumatism, nose bleed and diarrhoea.
