Bangkok, Thailand, 22-23 September 2025
— The Department of Agriculture Sarawak proudly participated in the 12th International Conference on Agriculture (AGRICO 2025) in Bangkok, Thailand. This year's conference theme was "Innovation Lightens the Future Way for Global Sustainable Food Security," and the department’s objective was to gain global exposure and insights to help drive the transformation of the agricultural sector in Sarawak.

The department was honored to present two innovative R&D findings at this international platform:

1.      Empowering Citrus Industry Recovery in Sarawak with Swiftscan: A Rapid Field Test Kit for Greening Disease Detection

2.      Nutritional Composition of Fijian Longan (Pometia pinnata) at Different Fruit Maturity

These research outputs, developed by our dedicated research officers, reflect the department’s ongoing commitment to strengthening agricultural innovation and sustainability through science and technology.

A total of 11 delegates from the department, including senior officers and researchers, attended the conference. The delegation was led by our Director, Mr. Dominic Anak Chunggat, and aimed to gather as many relevant takeaways as possible to support Sarawak’s strategic vision of modernizing and scaling up its agriculture industry.

“We are proud to represent Sarawak on the international stage and to showcase the capabilities of our local researchers. Conferences like AGRICO 2025 provide valuable opportunities to exchange knowledge, discover global best practices, and explore new technologies that can be adopted locally,” said Mr. Dominic Anak Chunggat.

The department believes that participation in such global conferences is essential to ensure that Sarawak remains competitive and progressive in the ever-evolving agricultural landscape. The department also acknowledges the continued support from the Sarawak Government in its endeavor to enhance agricultural development in Sarawak.
