COMMON NAME : Holy basil, Sacred basil
   
LOCAL NAME : Kemangi (M.), Ubat samit kemi (Ib.), Bunga nek kebayan (Mel.)
     
PREPARATION : Fresh leaves are taken as a condiment to flavour dishes. It is also believed to be a good source of dietary fibre.
   
TRADITIONAL USES : It is a good remedy for coughs, flatulence, colic, acute and chronic bronchitis. It can also stimulate appetite and improve digestion.
