The Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development of Sarawak, YB Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Anak Utom conducted a working visit to Mega BSF Sdn Bhd Factory in Rantau Panjang, Sibu. Mega BSF founded by Mr. William Hu Siew Lok is one of the companies in Sarawak that ventured into the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) farming industry.
YB Dato Sri said BSF has the potential to be used as an alternative feed for farm animals and it needs to be expanded to reduce the dependence of breeders on importing raw materials such as corn, grain and so on.
The Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (SALCRA) has been entrusted to develop BSF agriculture and make it more extensive in the future.
Also present were the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Food Industry, Commodities and Sarawak Regional Development (M-FICORD), Mr. Sirai Daha; Director of Agriculture Sarawak; Mr. Dominic Chunggat; Head of M-FICORD's Policy & Development Division, Dr Gluma Saban; Acting General Manager of SALCRA, Mr. Sikin Sentok and Sibu Division Agriculture Officer; Mr. Andrew Iling.
